Regarding the license question – yes, from version 1.0.2 on ContactPad is no longer freeware and requires a license. Your can evaluate the software for 30 days before you decide if you want to buy the license or not.

But on first start, it asked me to buy a license?

In what way do you mean it isn't compatible with Windows 8? Please clarify so that we can address the issue.
